Titans back rower Will Matthews was yesterday named to return from injury after three weeks on the sideline to face the Rabbitohs at Cbus Super Stadium.

Matthews has suffered three concussions to start season 2018 and has now been rested, tested and has now been cleared to play.

Although cleared to play against the Roosters, Matthews was instructed to see a specialist in Sydney, with all testing coming back positive for the Kyogle product.

"That's all been ticked off," Brennan said. He's gone through all the protocols required and he's been cleared by the doctor.

"He was cleared before the Roosters game but we thought he should see a specialist which he's done and he got the tick to keep playing on."

The veteran forward has had his struggles with injury and has now been struck down by a minor back complaint but is hopeful of lining up on Friday night.

"He got a bit busted at training (yesterday), I think it's his ribs or back so we'll see how he comes up.

"I spoke to him before and he wanted to train so I'm confident he'll come through and play if his back settles down."
