2018 NRL Community Award winners announced

The NRL recognises the hard work and countless hours that are taking place in the community by individuals and clubs who have gone above and beyond for grassroots rugby league.
Parramatta Eels hooker Cameron King and NRL.com presenter Zac Bailey announced the winners of the 2018 NRL Community Awards on NRL.com on Thursday.
Coffs Harbour Rugby League Club life members Max and Lorna Dawes took out the Volunteer of the Year Award, proudly supported by Coca Cola Amatil, for the impact they've had at the club over their 40 years of service in various volunteer and administrative roles.
The Grassroots Club of the Year Award, proudly supported by Apprenticeship Support Australia, went to Blackall Magpies Rugby League Club in Central West Queensland, which was acknowledged for the incredible work they do in supporting the community as well as fighting to keep rugby league alive in their small town of around 1400 people.
Western Rams women's coach and Trangie Central School teacher Jessica Skinner received the Women in League Achievement Award, proudly supported by Harvey Norman, for her efforts in growing the women's game and developing young talented players in remote and rural communities in Central NSW.
The Teacher of the Year Award, proudly supported by Accor Hotels, went to Galilee Catholic Primary teacher Brendan Davis who ensures his students get the most out of his lessons by passionately implementing various aspects of rugby league into his teaching methods.
The 'Vary Abilities Program' run by the Wests Tigers won the NRL Club Community Program of the Year, proudly supported by the the NSW Government, for the positive work they do in supporting students with physical or intellectual disabilities through a two-part clinic.
The winner of the 2018 Ken Stephen Medal will be announced at the Dally M Awards on Wednesday, September 26. The four finalists are Manly forward Joel Thompson, Brisbane captain Darius Boyd, Gold Coast prop Ryan James and Canberra halfback Sam Williams. This year's medal is supported by Skillsroad and P&O Cruises.
