Titans Head of Performance and Culture Mal Meninga has used the Gold Coast’s season launch at The Star to publicly unveil his R.A.P.T. initiative that he will use to drive excellence across all areas and aspects of the club.
Like the region we represent, the Titans are made up of people from many different backgrounds and cultures. We share common attributes, with our foundations built around key values of being Resilient, Accountable, Proud and Trustworthy.
Being Resilient, Accountable, Proud and Trustworthy form the pillars of the Titans’ value system – RAPT – which Meninga says will act as guideposts for the Gold Coast to reach its potential.
“The ingredients for a truly great club already exist here at the Titans,” Mal told titans.com.au.
“My job is to bring those ingredients together, and have everyone in the organization, our sponsors, members and supporters understand what it is that we stand for and what we are trying to achieve.
“When I first arrived at the Titans, the first thing that struck me was the quality of the people involved. Everyone here, from the owners, chairman and board members down are dedicated to making the Titans a club that our community is proud of.
“As part of my research into what makes the club tick, I found some key attributes that were shared through the club – resilience, accountability, pride and trust. The RAPT philosophy was born from that.
“RAPT seemed like such a fitting word. Each letter represents one of our key values, but it is also about how we want people to feel about the club. We are all rapt to be Titans, and we want our sponsors and supporters to feel rapt about being Titans as well.”
The RAPT values represent a set of beliefs that all Titans will be accountable to:

Meninga said making people aware of where the club had come from, as much as where it was going, was a big part in defining the club’s future.
“People forget that rugby league has been here on the Gold Coast and Northern Rivers for more than 100 years, and some incredibly famous names have contributed to the game’s story here,” Mal said.
“The Titans are just the latest chapter in that story.
“Now that we understand where we have come from, we can understand where we are going.
“We have developed a clear Vision Statement and Mission Statement for the club, so our objectives are written down for everyone to see.
“Our vision is to be a power club – one dedicated to uniting, influencing, and inspiring our community – through innovation and excellence in every aspect of our business.
“Our mission is to win premierships, to be a team of sustained success that our community is proud of and their children aspire to represent because of our unbreakable commitment to them and our values.
“Our RAPT values are what will drive our vision and our mission.
“Ultimately, succeeding in our mission and achieving our vision for the club will come down to the quality of the people involved at the Titans. The club will be defined by the character of the people within it.
“Being a Titan, in whatever role, means being proud, passionate and positive, and living our RAPT values every day.
“The responsibility of being a Titan does not finish at the end of the game, or the end of the day.
“For us to be a power club, we need great people doing extraordinary things when no-one else is looking.
“We are part of a bigger story. But the next chapter in our history starts now.”
