Titans winger Anthony Don leaps highest.

Titans coach Justin Holbrook says his side's breakthrough win is "just the start" of what they can achieve.

The 28-23 win over the Wests Tigers, secured in the 78th minute through a Phillip Sami try, broke a 14-game losing streak as a club but Holbrook doesn't look at it that way. For Holbrook, the side is one from four, with more wins on the agenda.

The way the Titans fought back from 12-0 and 22-12 deficits at Suncorp Stadium showed Holbrook the qualities he is trying to inculcate in his playing group.

"To get off the mark was great and in that fashion even better," Holbrook said.

"I have spent a lot of time giving the players self-belief ... and now that we've won I think they showed that if you keep hanging in there and working hard you can get the result you need.

"It is only the start. I'm getting a bit excited ... but we've got to keep cracking on."

With the Tigers ahead 23-22 following a Benji Marshall field goal, Ash Taylor was in no position to land a field goal of his own so he spun it to Brian Kelly who kicked for a flying Sami to score the match-winner with two minutes remaining.

Holbrook's response to that try was understandable.

"Too many expletives to say here. The blood pressure is still coming down," Holbrook grinned.

"We looked a bit lost in that last set and put ourselves in a tough position for the one-pointer so I am really glad that Ash, as a right-footer, didn't try and kick it coming off that right-hand sideline.

"To move the ball out for Brian Kelly to put that kick in and for Phil [to score] was great. Ad-lib is great for our game and it was great to come up with that.

"It is great that we showed that resilience ... and the way we went about it is great for our character."

Tigers coach Michael Maguire said poor execution and discipline cost his side dearly after they led by 10 points on two occasions.

The Tigers played well for 15 minutes in each half but then fell away to hand the Titans the ascendancy, a trend that Maguire said the club needed to fix - and quickly.

"It was unacceptable that performance," he said.

"We didn't do the things we said we were going to do. I'm sick and tired of the ups and downs of our performances and we need to change that.

"That is what this club has been. The truth is that we need to fix that as a playing group and coaching staff and everyone.

"People talk about whether we win the big games or challenge the big teams or play less against the lower teams ... well, we need to fix that. We need to fix it fast."
