Wallace Fit And Ready To Fire

Gold Coast Titans prop Jarrod Wallace says his best is yet to come this season, with a return full fitness the key to sparking a resurgence in form.

The former Queensland Origin player tried to push through injuries, but says it was hurting his performance.

“We try and play through injuries every week, that’s just part of rugby league and everyone does it, but it got the best of me in the end,” Wallace said.

“Two or three weeks off got me back, got me hungry, and I got to rest those injuries (back and hamstring) I was carrying, so it was a good call by Justin (Holbrook).

“I’m not the fastest guy as it is so when I don’t have any power or strength in my running like that, I think that made it very hard.

“... I probably should have stood up and said to him I was in a bit more trouble than I was trying to make everyone believe but Justin made the right call in giving me a few weeks off because now I’m feeling really good and I’m glad I’m back in the team and playing some footy.”

Wallace says there is a positivity around the Titans squad and credits Coach Justin Holbrook for uniting the group.

“He’s come in and got all the boys playing really well and training really well together, they want to be here with each other.

“Everyone is really close and enjoying each other’s company and guys are turning up to games wanting to play and ready to rip in.

“I think over the last few weeks we’ve really shown that we’re not the old Titans anymore.

“The boys are working for each other, they’re turning up every week.

“When you’ve got the high energy of some really good experienced coaches, that starts rubbing off on the boys and they want to make sure they’re turning up for the coaches because they’re doing everything they can to help us.

“I think the feeling now with a couple of wins is just going to keep building and building and everyone is loving it.

“With the guys coming in next year and the guys we’ve got here at the moment, we’re building something special and Justin is obviously starting to build a vision and it looks pretty good to me.”
