One more win until an equal club record

A 42 points to 24 win over the Manly Sea Eagles at Lottoland was the Titans fourth straight win as the side has found form late in the season.

The Club record is five-straight wins.

The last time it happened was in Round 24, 2010.

On that night at the Sydney Football Stadium, the Titans defeated the Sydney Roosters 23 points to 14.  Clinton Toopi crossed twice, while Kevin Gordon and Bodene Thompson also scored for the Gold Coast.

That run of wins saw the Titans defeat the Dragons (11-10), Warriors (28-10), Parramatta (34-12), Cowboys (37-18) and Roosters (23-14).

Prior to that, the Titans notched five-straight in 2008, with the final of those wins coming with at 36 points to 24 victory over the Warriors at Cbus Super Stadium.   Brenton Bowen, Preston Campbell, Ashley Harrison, Ben Jeffery, Brad Meyers and now GM of Football Anthony Laffranchi cross for four pointers.

Between rounds 3-7 in 2008, the Titans defeated Cronulla (18-4), Canberra (32-12), Parramatta (28-20), Brisbane (26-24) and Warrior (36-24).

The current squad has a chance to equal that record against the Newcastle Knights on Friday.

Coach Justin Holbrook says it is less about the number of wins and more about the style of performances that his side has been putting on.

“We’re are really happy obviously to make it four in a row (after win against Manly),” Holbrook said.

“I am really proud of the way the boys have been playing and we have been getting better.

“To have your team turn up and play similar every single week for a long period is a tremendous effort and we are really proud.

“We have got one more game and if we play well it puts us in good stead for next year.”
