Origin wingers match-up on show at Cbus

The Macca’s Matchup for round 11 sees us focus on two former State of Origin wingers.

For the Titans it’s Queenslander Phillip Sami and for the Bulldogs it’s former Blue Nick Cotric.

On paper these two are a close match.

Sami stands 186cm, Cotric 185cm.

Cotric weighs 98kg, Sami 97kg.

Sami has played both centre and wing in 2021 and will line up on the flank against the Bulldogs for the clash at Cbus Super Stadium.

The 23-year-old has found form in the last two games, scoring a double against the Wests Tigers in round nine and playing arguably his best defensive game against the Panthers in round ten.

The try scoring threat will be a key weapon for the Gold Coast as the home team looks to continue a strong run of home form in front of the Titans Legion.

Both players are averaging the same figures in line breaks (5), average tackles (5.2 per game) and are separated by just one try for the season (Sami has 3, Cotric 2).

Cotric does lead in the average run metres tally, with the former Raider one to watch especially from kick returns.

In his first season with Canterbury Bankstown, Cotric continues to build on his form as 2021 progresses and he will be a key figure as the Bulldogs look to claim their second win of the season.

It’s an important game for both sides, with the Bulldogs looking to turn some improved form into a win, while the Titans will be looking to climb back into the NRL’s top eight.
