Gold Coast duo relishing playing NRL together

They're the dynamite duo that are hoping to explode against the Sharks.

Tanah Boyd and David Fifita will continue their on-field partnership that dates back to high school when the Titans take on Cronulla at Coffs Harbour.

It's been Boyd who has impressed in recent weeks, with the 20-year-old stringing together strong performances after being given an opportunity at five-eighth.

Fifita has missed the previous two games through suspension, but Boyd says he's excited to re-connect with the second row star for the round 12 match.

“Its special, obviously playing juniors and things like that with him,” Boyd said.

“The type of player that he is as well, it's pretty special to see what he can do and yeah it's special for me to be a part of what he can do.

“I just love playing footy with him.

“He makes my job pretty easy.

“I just get to give him the ball and he can create stuff so yeah it’s awesome.”

Boyd made his NRL debut for the Titans in 2019, while Fifita started his top grade journey a season earlier for Brisbane.

“I thought there was a chance that we might both play NRL but not together,” Boyd said.

“To be now playing together, It’s pretty special and surreal.

“I’m just trying to make the most of the time with him and hopefully we can stay together for years to come.”

The Titans have won two out of the three games that the duo have started together and will hoping their combination will fire again in round 12.

The on-field relationship will likely be put on hold over the coming weeks, with Fifita expected to be named in Queensland's State of Origin squad.
