Metre-eating Marzhew grows in confidence from two-try bonanza

Try-scoring machine Greg Marzhew was thrilled to run out to a rowdy reception at Cbus Super Stadium in Saturday's clash against the Warriors, helping him get back to his absolute best in the 20-18 victory.

The Titans flyer ran for 222 metres, bagged a double and also broke the line on two occasions in the club's first win of 2022 at home in Round 2.

"It was hectic. I love it," Marzhew said, describing playing at home.

"I love our community that we've got here and I love the fans. It's always good to try to get the W for them too.

"I love playing at Cbus, it's my favourite spot to play at."

The 24-year-old was also thrilled to see the NRLW Titans get the two points in an enthralling contest against the table-topping Broncos before his side ran out.

"It's exciting to see that, especially with the Broncos going down for only the second time," Marzhew said.

"It's good for the club to get two wins on our home turf."

Marzhew streaks away

Getting a last minute call-up to play in the season opener due to Corey Thompson fracturing his hand at training, the outside back - who played in only his 10th appearance at the weekend - felt the his phenomenal performance has helped bolster his self-belief after a tough start in Round 1.

"It was a good confidence booster for me, especially after the first game against Parra... I felt I had a bit of a shocker there," Marzhew said.

"It gave me a little bit of a heads up just on my ability and the confidence I should have going going forward into the season."

Fifita and Marzhew combine

But despite his strong showing on the wing, the two-try hero feels there is still plenty to improve on with his right side teammates before making the trek down to Canberra to face the Raiders.

"There's always room for improvement. I think we just need to try and get some more chat going," Marzhew said.

"I've only got a handful of NRL games under my belt and Toby is the same, so we just need to keep working with David (Fifita) and Patty (Herbert) to try and get that combination going so we can be better for the rest of the season."

The most wholesome part of Marzhew's return to Cbus was the chance for his son Zayn to see him in action for the first time.

"It was his first game at the footy," Marzhew said.

"It was good to get him down and finally show him that his dad could play some footy."
