Campbell using Tweed stint to prepare for return

Gold Coast young gun Jayden Campbell will use today's second outing with the Tweed Seagulls to continue building confidence, as the Titans No. 1 recovers from a rib cartilage injury.

Set to line up in the Hostplus Cup against Wynnum Manly, the 22-year-old made his highly-anticipated return last Sunday for the Seagulls with a formidable performance, a month after bravely playing on with rib damage in the second half against the Raiders in Round 3.

Sitting down through the week with coach Justin Holbrook, the youngster wants to work his way back to the top grade through a few weeks with Tweed to get himself right for the rigours of NRL.

"He's just a bit underdone, and he was crook too going into [last week's] game, so it wasn't ideal for him in his first game back," Holbrook said.

"I stayed up and watched him. He played which was great, but he even said that he needs a couple of games. Fullbacks have to run all day and he wasn't quite there yet.

"He just needs a couple of games to get his confidence firing and then he'll be back in the mix.

"He's just got to get himself right, play well and then he'll be back in."

Campbell will be joined by other Titans players Paul Turner and Sam McIntyre for the clash at 3pm against Wynnum Manly at Tugun RLFC.
