'Finish a bit differently': Round 12 heartbreak providing added motivation to claim derby

AJ Brimson knows his side has learnt heaps from the last time they faced off against the Brisbane Broncos.

Letting slip of a 24-4 half-time lead to go down by 11 points when the Titans faced off against their arch rivals in Round 12 at Suncorp Stadium, there is added motivation to seek revenge for that disappointing finish alongside the traditional want to finish victors and claim bragging rights against 'big brother'.

"We always love versing Brisbane. It's always a good game and obviously they got us last time," Brimson said.

"Hopefully we can start the way we did last time, but finish it a bit differently.

"We're always looking forward to those local derby games.

"We had a solid session this morning. Obviously we're coming off the bye round and the weekend off, so the boys ripped in and got a lot done."

Conceding the Coast went away from their natural game in that loss seven weeks ago, there has been an increased emphasis to keep to the game plan and compete for the entire 80 minutes to put themselves in the best possible chance of claiming the two points in the Macca's Local Derby.

"We just need to go about our business and stick to our systems," Brimson said.

"I think what happened the last time was that we probably tried to protect the lead a little bit and then played a bit safe. Once they got a few tries, we just couldn't control the momentum."

Bolstered by the return of Phil Sami who is expected to be named for the Saturday night blockbuster at Cbus Super Stadium, Brimson is excited to see the flyer back in action and adding to his try-scoring tally after an eight-week absence due to injury.

"Flying Phil is back, so that's exciting and I'm excited to play with him," Brimson said.

"He's ready to go and Jayden Campbell is coming along well. He's out there training with us and he's touching us up a little bit.

"It's good to see, so I think maybe next week or the week after next we'll see him back."

Be there for the next instalment as the rivalry re-ignites at Cbus Super Stadium this Saturday, July 16. Secure your seat today!
