Brimson v Reynolds: The influencers of the derby

There's no doubt the two linchpins for Saturday's Macca's Local Derby will be the playmaking pair who hold all the experience for their respective teams.

It's why the matchup between AJ Brimson and Adam Reynolds will be one to watch, with it circled as the pick of the contests to influence the result of the grudge match between the two M1 rivals.

It's been a transitional year for the Titans star,  who has played a combination of both five-eighth and fullback in Gold Coast colours, but will run out in the old trusty No. 1 on his back for the clash against the Broncos, still filling the void left by injured live-wire Jayden Campbell who is not too far away from a return.

In his 14 appearances this season, Brimson has crossed the white stripe on four occasions, whilst also setting up a further ten - six of those at Cbus Super Stadium.

He's also been a handful to defend, making 42 tackle breaks and four line breaks across the season.

For Reynolds, the champion half has been one of the sparks to ignite the Broncos' season this year.

The 243-game veteran has suited up for 12 games this season, scoring four tries and is the man tasked with adding the extra two points to the tally, converting 41 tries so far.

He's also contributed with 12 try assists and six offloads, as well as offering plenty of talk in the middle.

But he's never featured in a derby before, missing the Round 12 showdown earlier this year; whereas for Brimson, this will be his eighth time facing off against 'big brother'.

Winning three and losing four, the 23-year-old will be pumped up to square the ledger and seek revenge from the Broncos, who stormed home in the earlier match this year.

The battle between Brimson and Reynolds is just one of the many that makes Saturday night's clash such a blockbuster in one of the biggest games of the year for the Titans... who will come out on top after 80 hard-fought minutes?

Be there for the next instalment as the rivalry re-ignites at Cbus Super Stadium this Saturday, July 16. Secure your seat today!
