Future Titans take centre stage in schools grand final day

With a record 180 teams in the four major schools rugby league competitions at the start of 2022, only nine remain with three Titans-affiliated schools featuring on the big stage this Wednesday.

A bumper NRL major school competitions grand final day will play out at Moreton Daily Stadium on September 14, culminating a fantastic year of junior rugby league across schools in Queensland.

Commencing at 1pm, the Karyn Murphy Cup finals kick-off with Stretton College in action against Isis State High School and Cairns State High School.

Now in its sixth year, the Karyn Murphy Cup - named after the former Queensland and Australian playmaker and current Titans NRLW head coach - offers females across Queensland the opportunity to participate in a nine-a-side participation competition.

At 1.45pm, the Jamie Feeney-coached Marsden State High School will be in action against Kirwan State High School to contest the NRL Schoolgirl Cup after defeating fellow Gold Coast affiliate school Keebra Park in a thriller late last month.

Due to the growth of the Karyn Murphy Cup over the past six years, in 2022 this 13-a-side Schoolgirl Cup Competition has been introduced in Queensland for secondary open aged school teams in Year 11 and 12.

To round out the big day of rugby league, Ipswich State High School will contest the National Schoolboy Cup decider against Patrician Brothers Fairfield, with Future Titans forward Josiah Pahulu skippering the Queensland school in the clash.

This match kicks off at 3.30pm.
