The Gold Coast may be a perfect holiday destination, but that's certainly not the motivator for Kieran Foran's move to the Titans.
The 32-year-old playmaker was full of excitement on his first official day at Parkwood, keen to lean on his 262 games of NRL experience to help bring success to his new club.
'They're really eager and that excites me': Foran
A premiership winner with Manly in 2011, the experienced half knows what it takes to be at the top, and feels his new side has the ability to lift the Provan Summons trophy in the not too distant future.
"These guys are just really eager. They've got huge potential in front of them and that excites me to come up here and be a part of that," he said.
"I think the footy club is in a really promising position and it's been a long time since they've felt some really genuine and consistent success.
"It's not going to be easy. It's not going to come easy, but I think they're heading in the right direction and they've got everything that they need.
"I'm excited to add something to this playing group and hopefully be part of some success."
Crediting coach Justin Holbrook's vision for the future, the New Zealand International feels the last few seasons of ups and downs with the young group is what has put them in an ideal place to progress up the ladder and is a big reason he now calls the Titans home.
"They've obviously learned some tough lessons over the last few seasons, but they've also shown a lot of promise," Foran said.
"I think Justin's got them to a position now as a footy side and a footy club to go that next step.
"I was really excited to come up here it's something that I feel will be great to be a part of."
Whilst there has been public conjecture about his career longevity given the spate of injuries suffered over his time in the NRL, the versatile linchpin feels his last two seasons - in which he only missed two games - has put him in good stead to remain healthy and on the field in the sky blue and gold.
This includes reuniting with Titans head of physical performance Cameron Ferguson who worked with Foran whilst previously at the Sea Eagles.
"I changed a lot of my training techniques a couple of years ago now and looked at what we could adjust when I got back to Manly and it's been working really well for me," he said.
"My body is responding as well as it ever has and I've just got to keep on top of it keep doing what I'm doing.
"I'm excited about working with the staff here as well. We've got a lot of quality guys here that will be able to add to what I have been doing physically, so that's exciting.
"I'm really looking to buy in there and improve to get my body even physically better than what it has been the last few seasons and go to another level."
