Upcoming Broncos trial a chance for new star to be born

The Gold Coast Titans' first trial match of the year is only a month away and is poised to deliver a new star to the rugby league world, much like what happened at the start of 2022.

Who could forget Jojo Fifita's rise to fame when he capably defended Origin centre Kotoni Staggs in his first outing wearing Titans colours... or Jaylan De Groot's impressive second half that included a try and try assist thanks to a 'shin kick' as infamously described by Fox League's Andrew Voss.

The Gold Coast are set to face off against the Broncos once again, this time at Sunshine Coast Stadium and with three top 30 roster spots still up for grabs, it will be a perfect shoot out for a number of train-and-triallists who are expected to line-up for the occasion.

The Titans have had a number of players at Parkwood training for a chance to continue their NRL dream, including Creedence Toia (Bulldogs), Emry Pere (Cowboys) and Jaron Purcell (Knights) who spent the summer working hard to impress.

The club also has a number of year-long train-and-trial players; with Ben Liyou, Ryan Foran, Jaylan De Groot and Oskar Bryant learning what it takes to be part of an NRL system.

Jacob Alick was the perfect example of the opportunity on offer for those who have applied themselves over the pre-season and performed on the big stage when given the chance to - being promoted to the NRL's top squad after completing a train-and-trial at the start of 2022.
