Local derby to kick-start Titans Netball season

Gold Coast Titans Netball coach Temepara Bailey is counting down the days to the club’s first home game of the season, up against Bond University at Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium on Saturday, April 29.

Expecting a sell-out crowd for the maiden local derby since their Gold Coast rivals re-entered the HART Sapphire Series in 2023, the former Silver Ferns legend in charge of her second season is thrilled to be facing off against their cross-town rivals in their season opener in Round 2.

“It’s really exciting to have a fellow Gold Coast team on the Coast, but it is going to be a rivalry and we want to go out there and dominate,” Bailey said.

"We are very proud to represent this club and wear these colours, and most importantly make our Titans community proud.

“We’ve got great strength within our group, so we want to go out there and win, but we also want to have fun doing that as well.

"We’re really looking forward to our clash on the Coast as our first home game and we always have a sell-out crowd – especially with there always being a show put on, not only the girls on court but also prior to the games starting.”

Whilst the Titans’ Sapphire team will have a bye in Round 1, the Ruby side will tip off in the opening weekend against the Barastoc Panthers before their home game showdown against Bond University the following week.

In conjunction with the competition draw being released, the Titans have also launched their 2023 Netball membership, guaranteeing fans into all three home games this season, as well as a general admission ticket to any Titans NRL game of their choice this season.

Packages begin from $40 for adults, with children under 12 free – join the Legion here.
