Earning the 8, how Jolliffe has grabbed a starting spot

You get the sense that no matter the number on his back, Jaimin Jolliffe would give the same effort.

Entering his fourth season in the NRL, the Titans enforcer has been one of the club's most consistent performers since making his debut in 2020.

Predominantly used off the bench in previous years, this pre-season Jolliffe has fought his way into Justin Holbrook's starting side.

"I'm just a prop mate, I go out there and run hard and tackle hard," Jolliffe smiles when asked by media to explain what has pushed him into the new role.

"I'm just happy to be in the team and to do my job.

"I feel like I'm playing good football and I just want to go out there and do my best for the club."

Jolliffe ran for 352 metres across the Titans two pre-season fixtures against the Broncos and Dolphins.

The hard-working 26-year-old will partner captain Tino Fa'asuamaleaui in the front row, with former Queensland Origin prop Moeaki Fotuaika to provide punch from the bench when the Titans take on the Tigers in round one.

Jolliffe says the hard work done at Parkwood over the pre-season has him confident that the Titans are ready to perform.

"I think the pre-season has been really tough but it has really brought everyone together," he said.

"My fitness is better than in previous years and I've got a little more in the tank.

"I'm not too sure on minutes, but I'll just go as hard as I can for as long as I can.

"My job is not too complicated, I've just got to run at the brick wall and I'm happy to do it."

Jolliffe will be without mate and fellow forward Beau Fermor for the clash, with the backrower rupturing his ACL at training in the lead up to the game.

"It's tough, Beauy is a close mate of mine and to lose him like that really is a shame," Jolliffe said.

"I thought he was in for a big year, he is a vital part of our club, but we've spoken about it as a group and we've got a next man up mentality and we've got good depth.

"Beauy is tough, he will bounce back from this, it won't turn him away and he will have a big year next year there is no worries about that."

Jolliffe says the Titans are under no illusions about the challenge the Tigers will provide, but says it will come down to a simple game-plan to get the points.

"We'll fly out tomorrow, train down there and get our prep ready for the Tigers," he said.

"I think their big threat is Koroisau, we didn't get to see much of him in the trial game.

"I think it will be their second phase, they love an offload, they love to play off the cuff and a few of their players have mentioned that as well.

"It'll be about staying up and locking up the ball and controlling those sort of areas.

For us it will be about building pressure, maintaining possession and early days football."
