All eyes will be on Tweed halves pairing Toby Sexton and Tom Weaver in this weekend's Gold Coast derby after the duo's helped the Seagulls outclass the defending premiership in the Hostplus Cup at the weekend.

Defeating the Devils 32-26, it was Sexton's running game that came to the forefront at Piggabeen, with the 21-year-old making 86 metres as the chief playmaker, even scoring a try in their second victory of the season.

Weaver was equally as good in the No. 6, having a hand in four tries and four line breaks in only his fourth Hostplus Cup appearance.

Treymain Spry continued his good form with another try to his name, as did full-time train-and-trialist Jaylan De Groot who has continued to impress at fullback.

At Pizzey Park, Burleigh made light work of Redcliffe 36-10 in what was Josiah Pahulu's Cup debut at only 18 years of age.

The Australian Schoolboy made an incredible 153 metres in a 45-minute stint, which also included four tackle breaks.

The win keeps the Bears up the top of the ladder after serving the bye last week, next to face the sixth-placed Seagulls in XXXX Rivalry Round.

Kick-off is at 3.30pm Saturday, April 1 at Piggabeen Sports Complex.
