Titans outclassed by ladder-leading Roosters

Tarryn Aiken was the star for the Roosters who proved too strong for the Titans in their Round 5 match at Cbus Super Stadium.

The Roosters five-eighth was at her attacking best, setting up tries and scoring a spectacular one of her own in the 30-8 win.

The Roosters got the first try of the game early after they got the ball off a scrum and produced a simple shift to their left, with Corban Baxter running the distance to score, despite almost being denied by a good chase from Chantay Kiria-Ratu.

The home side hit back soon after they got the ball back from a Roosters error when receiving the kick off, putting them in great position to attack with Sienna Lofipo putting in a kick that was guided to the ground by Niall Williams-Guthrie.

Gold Coast thought they had gone back-to-back and Williams-Guthrie a first half double with a similar play to their right, but it was denied, before the Roosters turned the screws to close out the half with two more tries, including a solo effort from five-eighth Tarryn Aiken that will be a try of the year contender.

Williams-Guthrie opens up the Titans' account

In the second half, after a tight opening few exchanges, the Roosters were able to again extend their lead to seal the win, with three second half tries.

However, the Titans were able to give some cheer to their fans, with Destiny Mino-Sinapati crossing for a four-pointer.

The Titans pressed hard at the end of the second half, but the Roosters rallied to show some outstanding defence, especially on their goal line, to produce an impressive victory.

The tri-colours have now won three games in a row, while the Titans have suffered back-to-back losses after going down to the Knights last week.
