Affiliate wrap: Burleigh claim back-to-back minor premierships

The Burleigh Bears have been crowned back-to-back minor premiers after defeating the Blackhawks 20-14 in Townsville on Saturday.

Featuring Tony Francis and Josiah Pahulu in the clash, the Bears led from start to finish leading 18-0 at half-time, before holding on in the second 40 - taking top honours after Souths Logan were taken down by the Capras 18-14.

It was a tough day out for Tweed who have missed the finals race with a 37-12 loss to the Falcons on Saturday afternoon.

Missing Tom Weaver who got his opportunity to debut in the NRL in Round 25, the Seagulls struggled to make a dent on Sunshine Coast who had a number of seasoned NRL stars including Ryan Papenhuyzen, Justin Olam and Chris Lewis.

The Bears will face off against the Capras in their qualifying final at Pizzey Park on Saturday afternoon at 4pm.
