Titans introduce new milestone celebrations for NRLW squad

The Titans have made a landmark decision to establish and determine club-celebrated milestones for players in the NRLW Telstra Premiership.

With the fledgling women’s competition continuing to grow year-on-year and considering traditional NRL milestones that are typically highlighted every 50 games, Gold Coast coach Karyn Murphy and the team’s leadership group have agreed to commemorate achievements every 25 games.

In conjunction with Jess Elliston’s 25th NRLW appearance this Sunday in the club’s final regular season game, the Titans will also retrospectively acknowledge past milestone players – including Steph Hancock (30), Shaylee Bent (27), Brittany Breayley-Nati (27), Karina Brown (27) and Georgia Hale (27).

The Titans mentor knows the significance of celebrating milestones and is thrilled to be honouring six players this weekend.

“Milestones are hugely important in our game and whilst playing one game is incredibly special, so is playing a significant number at the top level,” Murphy said.

“This is why we want to recognise this and feel 25 is the right number to do so, given our competition is at around half the season length of the NRL and is continually growing – now at 11 weeks from Round 1 to grand final in the expanded 10-team format.

“I fondly remember reaching and celebrating significant milestones when I was playing for Queensland and with the Jillaroos, and I can’t wait to share that same jubilation with several of our players this weekend – including Steph who incredibly played her 30th game of NRLW last week, not to mention the years of service she has made to the game previously.”
