Schoolboy success: 22 Future Titans named for Queensland carnival

The Gold Coast are pleased to announce 22 Future Titans have been selected for the upcoming QSSRL state carnival later this year.

To be hosted on the Gold Coast at Pizzey Park and Cbus Super Stadium from May 18-21, 16 of the club's young prospects will feature for their respective school regions in the Open's category; meanwhile, six Under 15s will aim for Queensland selection in their age division.

The large representation of talent for the upcoming schoolboy carnival is a further hat-tip to the club's junior pathways program, which has seen immense success already in 2024.

This includes the Gold Coast's Under 19s dominance in their recent pre-season trials, defeating South Sydney, Penrith and Newcastle in January.

Titans club engagement, critical stakeholders and pathways manager Paul Stephenson said the success in selection is a testament to the continued development of the club's pathways programs.

“We are extremely pleased to have 22 of our Future Titans selected for the upcoming Queensland State Carnival which will be held right here on the Gold Coast,” Stephenson said.

“It’s a testament to our junior programs which continues to grow year-on-year as a genuine pathway to the NRL and we are proud to maintain a strong relationship with schoolboy rugby league from Logan to Lismore to help foster our talent.

“A big highlight for us is having two thirds of the South Coast Opens team as Titans-contracted players, with another four players selected to represent neighbouring regions.

"These players were an integral part of our recent trial success again South Sydney, Penrith and Newcastle and their selection is a huge reward for their hard work and dedication over the pre-season.

“We are also immensely proud to have six contracted Under 15s selected to feature in the upcoming carnival, which is a huge indication of the immense young talent we have on the Gold Coast and part of the Future Titans program.”

It's expected several other Titans based in the Northern Rivers will also be part of schoolboy representation in the New South Wales trials in the coming weeks.
