'We've missed him': Titans teammates share Campbell excitement

There's no denying the X-factor Jayden Campbell is set to bring in his returning game for the Titans against the Dolphins on Easter Saturday.

Six months since dislocating his patella against the Panthers in Round 25, 2023; the 24-year-old will run back out to Cbus Super Stadium wearing the No. 1 jersey for his first appearance of the new year, eager to help the Gold Coast notch up their first win of the season after a tough 0-2 start.

Getting through a solid first 40 minutes in the Hostplus Cup for the Tweed Seagulls in a test run for this weekend's NRL return, a showdown against the Dolphins is the perfect occasion for the livewire to be coming back for, given his last performance against the new kids on block in 2023.

In that game, Campbell broke the club's all-time running metres record with a whopping 315; as well as two line breaks, nine tackle busts and two offloads in an incredible showing at home.

His return has been lauded by his teammates, with hooker Sam Verrills excited to see the whiz kid back in action after his stint on the sidelines.

"He’s such a good player and we’ve missed him… it’s been so long," Verrills said.

"I think his IQ with footy is one of the best and he’s very vocal. It’s what we need at the moment.

"He’s a pretty elusive player and he can take on the short sides and he’s got that tough carry in him and we can’t wait to get him back."

Campbell is one of two Titans making their return from injury for the Saturday night showdown, with David Fifita also set for a triumphant return after sustaining a pec injury during the pre-season.

Titans coach Des Hasler declared the two stars will be 'welcomed additions' for the team against the Queensland opponents, with Fifita brought onto the bench on Friday and is expected to be injected into the game at some stage during the derby.

Kick-off is at 6.35pm AEST, with tickets still available here.
