The Gold Coast Titans wish to pay tribute to Kiwi duo Erin Clark and Isaac Liu who will both depart the club to explore new opportunities.
Clark has been granted a release from the remainder of his contract on compassionate grounds. The 26-year-old had a year remaining on the Coast, however has requested to return to New Zealand with his partner and young family.
The energetic forward said it was a tough decision, but one that puts his family first.
"I love the Titans and will always be so appreciative for what the club has done for me," Clark said.
"I came here on a train-and-trial contract with no guarantees of anything and I've gone on to play 94 games representing the Gold Coast.
"I want to thank the Titans Legion - I've really enjoyed playing in front of you at Cbus Super Stadium and that is something I'll definitely miss.
"Des (Hasler) has something building here on the Coast and I'm sure the boys will taste success in the near future.
"For me and my young family, the time was right to return to New Zealand and I want to thank the club for allowing me to do that."
Titans CEO Steve Mitchell said whilst he's disappointed to see Clark leave, the club understood his personal circumstance and wish him well for what's ahead.
"Every time Erin has pulled on the Titans jersey he has given 100 per cent," Mitchell said.
"It's because of the effort and energy that he brings that he's become a favourite for our Members and fans.
"Erin and his partner have three young kids and with both of them having family back in New Zealand, they decided that the time was right to move back home.
"We thank Erin for what he's brought to our team over the last five seasons and wish him well for what's to come."
Liu also played his final game for the club in Round 27, ending a three-year stint on the Gold Coast and is set to farewell the NRL in 2024.
A premiership-winner with the Sydney Roosters, Liu is one of the most capped forwards in the league, playing his 272nd game against the Panthers.
An experienced New Zealand international, "Ice" joined the Titans in 2022, playing 69 games representing the Coast.
Liu is another who Mitchell wants to thank for his contribution on and off the field.
"Isaac has had an incredible career in the NRL across both our club and previously at the Roosters," he said.
"His resume is substantial in terms of what he has been able to achieve in the game, but he’s arguably had just as big of an impact off the field in terms of his leadership.
"At 33 years of age, he’s been able to help shape some of our young forwards and the work he has done while at our club will not quickly be forgotten.
"We wish Isaac and his family the best for the next stage of his football journey and again thank him for his considerable contribution while at the Titans."
