Consistency is key according to Beau Fermor after a flat performance last Friday, but the edge forward is set for a big test against the in-form Canberra Raiders on Easter Sunday.

It may be the season for chocolate, but the 26-year-old wasn’t in the mood for sugarcoating the past fortnight, acknowledging the Titans' back-to-back disappointing showings as they prepare to face the Green Machines hunting their fifth win.

"We need to be a lot better than we were last weekend, myself included," Fermor said.

"We were pretty disappointing across the board and need to start finding that consistency to perform well week in, week out.

"They've got four wins now and they've got a really strong and mobile pack, so we have to be really good in the forwards.

"They gain a lot of momentum from how hard they run and how difficult they are to handle, so we've got to be much better this weekend and I know the boys and I are really looking forward to getting back out there and putting on a strong performance at home."

Returning to the back-row after a two-week stint in the centres, the Origin prospect is relishing a Queensland v New South Wales 1-on-1 battle against Hudson Young, who has started his season in scintillating form with five tries to help the Raiders to their 4-2 start.

"He's begun the year really well, he's a really good player and they thrive a lot off that second phase play," Fermor said.

"We've just got to do our job to lock up the ball on their big boys through the middle and limit the time and space their players like Hudson have in the game.

"I want to win every game and every moment that I can, so I'll keep putting in until I can't anymore.

"I don't know where it comes from but it's been hard wired into me as a kid and I'll continue to play that way for as long as I can."

With Gold Coast boasting four Origin stars in their pack - including Tino Fa’asuamaleaui, David Fifita, Moeaki Fotuaika and Reagan Campbell-Gillard - Fermor is eyeing a step up of his own, hoping to attract the attention of Billy Slater with Game I only just over a month away.

"I've always wanted to play for Queensland and it's my dream to play Origin but all I'm focusing on is doing my job for the Titans week in, week out to help us win games," he said.

"If I'm doing that right, the rest will take care of itself but it'll continue to be my dream to pull on the Maroons Origin jersey one day."
