Titans help launch 2025 Gold Coast NAIDOC Day event

The Gold Coast community is invited to come together next Wednesday, July 9 to celebrate NAIDOC Week 2025 - a powerful collaboration between key Gold Coast organisations and sporting clubs.

The free, family-friendly event will honour the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, with this year’s theme ‘The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy’ shaping the day's celebrations.

Held at the Gold Coast Sports Precinct in Carrara, the event will feature cultural performances, food stalls, local First Nations artists and businesses, interactive workshops and opportunities for the community to connect with service providers and support networks.

Kalwun Development Corporation chair William Oui said the day represents meaningful community action.

“This event is about more than celebration - it’s about showcasing the strength, diversity, and pride of our people,” he said.

“It’s also a reminder that by working together across health, sport, and community, we can drive better outcomes for our future generations.”

Gold Coast Titans ambassador and proud NRL legend Preston Campbell OAM said the event is about creating unity through shared respect.

“NAIDOC Week is one of the most important times of the year for our mob, but it’s also a moment for the whole community to stand with us, learn with us, and celebrate with us,” the former Titan said.

“When organisations like the Titans, Kalwun and the Gold Coast Suns work together, we’re not just ticking a box we’re building real connection and change.”

“We’re thrilled to be working alongside organisations like Kalwun and the Titans to educate, learn, celebrate and drive really meaningful connections with our community.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to come together to showcase our mob and highlight our culture during such an important week for Indigenous people.”

Sponsored by Gold Coast Health, CEO Ron Calvert said partnering with the event reflect Gold Coast Health’s values and its commitment to the community.

“We are committed to working in partnership with the Gold Coasts First Nations community to deliver real outcomes and lasting change through a genuine approach of co-design, co-ownership, and co-implementation,” he said.

“Embedding First Nations voices and strengthening partnerships, is key to accelerating and advancing health equity and Closing the Gap. Our ‘Always Care’ philosophy is committed to driving better health outcomes for all generations of First Nations peoples.”

The Gold Coast NAIDOC event is open to all, with activities for all ages and a strong focus on First Nations culture, pride and belonging.
