The Gold Coast Titans would like to acknowledge and thank long-serving director Darryl Kelly, who has announced his retirement from the club’s board after a dedicated 13 years of service.

Beginning his tenure on the Gold Coast in 2012, Darryl and wife Joanne have been at the heart of the Titans’ journey since then, playing a vital role in helping secure the club’s future during its most challenging times.

Their generous financial and personal investment has been instrumental in shaping the region's NRL franchise into the strong and sustainable organisation it is today.

Together, in partnership with Rebecca and Brett Frizelle, their co-ownership and directorship had seen the club grow to support high-level male and female programs across rugby league and netball, and also a vibrant community arm which hosts ever-growing school, inclusive and Indigenous programs.

Their work has also been instrumental in building commercial strength and a solid foundation for investment in future on-field success.

Darryl feels now is the right time to retire from his official role, but his passion for the Titans will remain from the grandstands at Cbus Super Stadium.

"It has been a great privilege to serve on the board of the Gold Coast Titans these past 13 years and I’m grateful my time has helped young players, both male and female, to excel and represent their families and communities on the big stage, whether at club, state or international level," he said.

"There have been challenges along the way, but to see the Titans grow into the organisation it is today with such a bright future makes it all worthwhile.

"Jo and I are proud of what has been achieved, and we look forward to cheering on the Titans as fans in the years ahead."

Titans chairman Dennis Watt paid tribute to Kelly for his selfless service, lauding the extraordinary commitment he and Jo have made to ensuring the club remained an important part of the Gold Coast and northern New South Wales community.

"The old saying in rugby league is that you must always strive to leave the jersey in a better place. In this respect alone, Darryl and Jo have excelled," he said.

"As a result of their continued hard work and long-standing commitment, our future is a very bright one and their passion to ensure our great game continues to prosper here has been truly inspiring.

"I know both Darryl and Jo never want any fanfare, but they are more than deserving of the recognition for what they have given to this organisation and this community over the past 13 years."

On behalf of the Titans, owners Rebecca and Brett Frizelle wish the Kelly family all the best in the future, having announced life memberships for Darryl and Jo at the recent club awards night.

They will also be honoured with the western grandstand at Cbus Super Stadium to be known as the Kelly stand from 2026.
