Round 1 team: Hau wins edge battle as Hannay unveils fresh faces against Sharks

Arama Hau has edged out Josh Patston to start in the back-row for Saturday's season opener showdown against the Sharks in Sydney.

Forming part of Josh Hannay's new-look Titans team, the Gold Coast coach has named seven fresh faces as part of his 22-man squad; including Siale Faeamani who is set to make his NRL debut on the wing.

The 21-year-old was a standout in both recent trials after making the move from New Zealand via Penrith to chase his NRL dream.

Max Feagai will also make his club debut in the centres, whilst new recruit Lachlan Ilias joins AJ Brimson in the halves after Jayden Campbell was ruled out with a minor hamstring strain.

Potential club debutants Kurtis Morrin, Luke Sommerton, Zane Harrison and Jensen Taumoepeau all form part of the extended squad with the new interchange rules including six players on the bench for game day.

Kick-off is at 5.30pm (AEDT) on Saturday at Ocean Protect Stadium, Sydney.
