Fotuaika to join Fa'asuamaleaui as Titans co-captains

Experienced enforcer Moeaki Fotuaika will join Tino Fa’asuamaleaui in leading the Titans together as co-captains for the remainder of the 2026 season.

One of the club's most respected figures and recently achieving the honour of becoming Gold Coast’s most-capped player in his 174th appearance, Fotuaika's elevation recognises his outstanding leadership, professionalism and influence within the playing group.

Titans coach Josh Hannay said Fotuaika's appointment alongside Fa’asuamaleaui was a natural progression for a player who is highly regarded among his peers.

"Moe has earned enormous respect throughout our club with the way he carries himself every day," Hannay said.

"Upon arriving at the end of last year, it was clear Tino is our leader and has been since being appointed captain in 2022.

"As I’ve spent more time working with the playing group and developing a better understanding of the squad dynamics, I feel having Moe as our co-captain will complement Tino’s strength of leadership and shoulder the load that comes with being an Origin and International representative player.

"He will also assist in continuing to drive the standards we want to accept at this club.

"In consultation with Tino, he was clear that he welcomed Moe’s ascension to co-captain – so much so that he wanted to deliver the news to Moe himself.

"They have both been pillars of this organisation and Tino couldn’t be happier to share the leadership responsibilities with his running mate."

Fa'asuamaleaui welcomed the opportunity to lead alongside one of his closest teammates.

"I'm really excited for Moe. We've been through a lot together at this club and I know how much this means to him," he said.

"Being captain is a privilege and having someone like Moe alongside me to help lead the group and share the load is incredibly valuable.

"He's earned this opportunity and I know our playing group are proud to see him recognised in this way."
