Former Brisbane Broncos prop Dave Hala will play his first match of the season today, for the Burleigh Bears at Pizzey Park, after eight weeks on the sideline from a knee injury.

Hala injured his knee in a trial match against the North Queensland Cowboys in Toowoomba in mid-February and is definitely ready to take on the East Tigers.

“It has been such a long time since I have played footy and I can’t wait to get back out there,” Hala said.

“I wanted to make sure my knee was structurally good before I played on it. I could have come back last week but I’m glad I didn’t and hope it pulls up good.”

The Bears have won three games straight and are hoping to keep that streak going with Hala joining Titans players Jamie Dowling and Kevin Gordon also in the side to play the Tigers on Sunday with prop Mark Ioane also coming back from injury after missing the previous round.

“They are a very strong side Easts and I always prepare a little harder ahead of their clashes. They always a few players from Melbourne, but I think we have a quality team to beat them this Sunday.”

With the Titans at Parramatta yesterday where they had an impressive win against the Eels, Titans fans will still be able to see some of the squad in action locally with both feeder teams on the Gold Coast today, with the Bears kicking off at 3pm and Tweed Heads Seagulls taking on the Melbourne Storm-linked Sunshine Coast at Piggabeen (3pm).

Titans players Jai Ingram, Matt Robinson, Matt Srama, Jamal Fogarty and Kalifa Faifai Loa will wear Seagulls colours.

The Seagulls will be hungry for a win against the Falcons after coming off a bye. They will be without in-form centre Davin Crampton due to a back injury and Leva Li who had ankle injury this week and will be sidelined for several weeks.
