Our Gold Training under-20s coach Ben Woolf updates our members and fans on his team's progress and injuries after a determined effort against the Panthers.

He reveals how his team was set the task of flying from the Gold Coast at 6am to Sydney and then heading out to Penrith, yet stuck it to the runaway leaders and led 18-6 before going down 28-24.

"We're disappointed where we are, we set ourselves up to be in a top eight position at this stage and I think we're good enough for that," he said.

"But we've had injuries, and injuries to key blokes but the guys who have come in have a good job. But there were three or four games where there were key moments when we weren't good enough - we were good enough for 80 per cent of the times but for the period you're not, that's the difference between winning and losing games."
