The Aquis Gold Coast Titans pay tribute to sports journalist and commentator Rebecca Wilson who today lost her battle with cancer, aged 54.

Although having spent a major part of her life in Sydney as a columnist for both the Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph, Rebecca was a proud Gold Coaster whose mother Marylou still lives here.

“Rebecca and I worked closely together during the Super League years and also during my time at the NRL,” CEO Graham Annesley said.

“She was a close personal friend and everyone at the Titans wishes to extend their condolences to the whole family including John, Marylou, Liz, Tom, Will, and brother Jim who is a proud Titans ambassador.”

Rebecca was a hard worker who simply wanted the best for the game of rugby league and as a female journalist she forged the way for many younger women to follow in her footsteps

Although often controversial, Rebecca was fearless in her views whilst also being fiercly loyal to those she loved.

She kept her illness private until very recently to spare those closest to her from worry. This is so typical of how Rebecca always put others first.
