New recruit Jesse Arthars has made the move back home and indicated that being surrounded by family will only improve his rugby league.

The 20-year-old spent three seasons away from the Gold Coast, firstly down in Melbourne and then at South Sydney but after the unfortunate passing of his mother, Arthars made the call to be back home with his father and two younger brothers.

"It's good to be home and closer to everyone," Arthars said.

"I'm the oldest and have two younger brothers.

"Family is everything to me. Being around everyone keeps me happy and helps with life in general."

Whilst family means the world to the former Keebra Park student, the lifestyle certainly has its pluses as well.

"The weather up here is great. It's good after training and on the weekend, I'm always outside, whether it be the beach or just generally out and about.

"I recently bought a jetski and to be able to go out regularly with my brothers and friends is great."
