The Titans have hit the ground running, literally, after the Christmas break with the squad put through their paces in their first hit out of the new year.

"They have come back in good shape which is great," Coach Justin Holbrook said.

"You're never sure, everyone is usually different, but they're all in good nick and I'm happy with that.

"I'm happy with the whole attitudes of everybody, how they're training and the work ethic and I'm really pleased.

"I honestly think they're all improving on where they're at.

"Brian Kelly has been fantastic, the running type conditioning stuff is never his strength, but he has been really pushing himself and Tyrone Peachey has been the same.

"The guys where it doesn't happen naturally for them, they're the ones you want to see pushing themselves.

"The big fellas are doing the same, the game is going to be quicker with the new rules, so the big guys have got to really step it up now and they know that."

Phillip Sami returned to training after Origin duty today, with Holbrook saying that both AJ Brimson and Ash Taylor are on track to return from injury in time for the Titans pre-season clash against the New Zealand Warriors at Lismore's Oakes Oval on Saturday 27th February.

"They're both on track," Holbrook said.

"We knew with AJ that it'd be a long time and Ash is as we expected and he is doing really well.

"He's sort of just running freely now ... he's had a disrupted pre-season having both his hips and his wrist done.

"He did well to finish the season how he did considering he was in a fair bit of pain in both those areas.

"It's good to get him back on the field for a fair bit of the skills stuff and he will integrate more.

"AJ is probably still a few weeks off.

"I haven't had a chance to do a lot of team stuff as we've had a few key guys missing and Tino (Fa'asuamaleaui) hasn't really joined us properly yet so we've still got a fair bit of the side that hasn't come together yet."
