Round 16 charges: Fifita, JWH challenging judiciary; Trio cop bans

Gold Coast star David Fifita is challenging his dangerous contact charge at the judiciary in a bid to take his place in the Queensland side for Origin III.

Fifita has elected to challenge the grade-one charge for a hit on Canberra's Sam Williams - his two similar offences in the past two years ensured an early guilty plea would not have reduced the penalty to a fine.

Fellow Maroon Val Holmes was hit with a fine for a crusher tackle on Kalyn Ponga in Newcastle on Saturday night, meaning he is free to play in game three for Queensland.

Holmes will be fined $1350 after submitting an early guilty plea.

The Roosters on Monday announced their pleas to the charges handed down to forwards Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Daniel Suluka-Fifita.

Waerea-Hargreaves will front the judiciary on Tuesday in an attempt to avoid a fine for a contrary conduct charge while Suluka-Fifita has accepted a one-game suspension for a dangerous contact offence.

Following a review of Sunday's matches, the only player charged was Sharks forward Jack Williams. He is facing a $1350-$1800 fine for a contrary conduct offence.

Bulldogs hooker Jeremy Marshall-King has accepted a two-game ban for a crusher on Manly's Morgan Harper.

The ban would have increased to three games if Marshall-King fought the charge unsuccessfully at the judiciary.

Marshall-King's teammate Ava Seumanufagai has been hit with a grade-one dangerous contact charge for an incident involving Martin Taupau. He will miss one game with an early guilty plea or two matches if he challenges the charge and loses.

All the official charges from the NRL match review committee for round 16 of the Telstra Premiership.
