Finals revenge firmly in sight as Titans NRLW season nears

The Gold Coast Titans will be hoping the feeling at full-time against the Dragons this time round will be much sweeter than it was six months ago.

Bowing out in the semi-finals to the Red V, the sky blue and gold were none from two against the grand finalists in their inaugural season, adding plenty of fuel to the fire of desire to seek revenge and get one back on their fellow foes from St George-Illawarra.

Top Titans try scorer for the 2021 season, veteran prop Steph Hancock will be hoping for further success with ball-in-hand when she starts the contest on Sunday, coming up with a scintillating double the last time she took to the field in that maiden finals berth in April.

That contest also saw the return of Evania Pelite from injury, electrifying the opposition from the outside backs - the position in which she's set to star in this weekend.

Gold Coast coach Karyn Murphy - who watched on as an eager NRLW fan the last time these two teams met - has been part of a small discussion this week about the want to get one back, but has mainly concentrated on her side given the short preparation.

"We've talked a little bit on what happened last season, but our focus has really been on our new squad and how we want to play this year," Murphy said.

"The girls that were were here last season, and there are 16 of them, are fully aware they we were none out of two against the Dragons earlier this year.

"We've looked at their team and are prepared for them, but it's mainly just been all about us for the 2022 season."

For new recruit Madison Bartlett, who played on the other side of the field and even scored a try against her new team in the earlier clash, she's full of energy to face her old side as now a Titan.

"I'm definitely excited and I know they are a quality side, so it'll be exciting," she said.

"It'll be good to see some of my old friends as well, so I'm definitely looking forward to it."

Kick-off is at 12pm on Sunday at WIN Stadium. Watch live on Fox League and Kayo.
