Holbrook eager to replicate fortnight form in Sunday Knights showdown

Only a fortnight ago, the Titans broke their streak of losses with an emphatic victory over the Sea Eagles at home.

Now it's as important as ever to back that up with a dominant performance against the Knights to finish the year strong and coach Justin Holbrook wants to make sure his side is firing on all cylinders given the significance of this weekend's fixtures for the club's loyal supporter base.

"It's very important to get the win and that's exactly what we want to do," he said.

"We had a good win at home against Manly and it’s even more important this weekend for members’ round.

"It hasn’t been the year we wanted, but we can finish it on a high in front of our fans."

Not only having the Legion by their side to provide plenty of inspiration, avenging a disappointing finish against the Dragons who were reduced to 12 men is top of the list for the Gold Coast as they fight hard to avoid ending on the bottom of the table.

"It was really disappointing, especially in the last 10-15 minutes of that game," Holbrook said.

"We got a couple of hard calls and things like that don't help, but then we got to get on with it and defend that and that's what we didn't do well.

"I'm really disappointed with how we finished the game because I thought we fought all the way to stay in it. We were chasing them the entire game and then put ourselves in a position late in the game.

"We've had stages in a lot of games during the year, so that's part of the learning curve and we don't want to be getting that wrong in the future."

Match Highlights: Titans v Sea Eagles

With the squad knowing they need to put in another 80-minute performance, they have been buoyed by the inclusion of Gold Coast junior Klese Haas, who is set to provide plenty of spark off the pine as an edge forward in the latter stages of Sunday's contest.

"I'm really happy for Klese because it took him a while to get a run in Cup," Holbrook said.

"He's very athletic, works really hard and in terms of our training numbers when you look at them, he always has a high work rate and at high impact.

"It's a really good reward for him in the back end of the year to get his opportunity to play with us."

The Titans coach is hoping him and the rest of the Gold Coast forward pack can help minimise the Knights' big men to win the battle of the middle to slow the rest of their strike weapons.

"They have a really strong forward pack and they're obviously disappointed with their season, but they've got dangerous players everywhere as every side does," Holbrook said.

"They had a lot of joy with their wingers against us last time too, so there's some really athletic guys out there.

"We've just got to make sure that we put in our best performance at our last home game this Sunday."
