Locked in: Sami ruled out, PNG young gun joins Suncorp squad
Phil Sami will miss Sunday's showdown against the Dolphins after suffering a groin strain this week, with Tony Francis set to replace the experienced flyer on the wing.
The forced switch has opened the door for exciting young forward Cooper Bai to become 18th man and travel with the Titans to Brisbane after setting the Hostplus Cup alight in his maiden season.
The 19-year-old has played seven games for the Tweed Seagulls this year, averaging over 150 running metres and four tackle busts per game, which saw him earn a starting jersey in his past two appearances in Cup.
Not only an attacking weapon having scored five tries including a double on debut, he has also been impressive in his defensive efforts, averaging a 95 percent tackle efficiency in the middle.
Whilst not expected to debut against the Dolphins, he joins former Wallabies fly-half Carter Gordon on the extended bench to gain valuable experience with a call-up to NRL looming.
Kick-off is at 4.05pm on Sunday at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane.
