The Titans wish to confirm young gun Sam Stephenson has been forced to medically retire after a serious neck injury.
The 19-year-old Future Titans alumni was part of Gold Coast's development roster in 2025 having helped Palm Beach Currumbin State High School to Queensland and National Schoolboy Cup success before joining the club full-time.
The Australian Schoolboys representative also played for Queensland twice in the Under 19 Origin clash, as well proudly representing his Papua New Guinean heritage with the Junior Kumuls.
"Firstly, I just want to say thank you to everyone who made my journey the way that it was. All the camps and all of the training sessions, I couldn't thank you all enough," Stephenson said.
"Sometimes, life changes the path you thought you'd be on. It's not ideal having to medically retire at 19, but your health is more important.
"Although my journey is being cut short, I'll forever carry the memories, friendships and love for the sport.
"Thank you to everyone who's supported me along the way."
Titans CEO Steve Mitchell wished Sam and his family all the best following the difficult news.
"Sam’s personal statement is a true reflection of his character and resilience," he said.
"We are extremely proud of his achievements, especially having played for Queensland, Australia and the Junior Kumuls whilst coming through our pathways and we thank him for his contribution during his time at the club.
"We wish Sam and his family all the best in the future as we join with the NRL and RLPA to help his post-career transition."
