Stat Attack: The low-key signing to fix Titans' attack

The Titans found themselves at the back of the NRL pack in most attacking categories last year, not least when it came to busting the defensive line.

Their 3.5 line breaks per game bettered only the Bulldogs (3.21) and Newcastle (3.25), while for support play and decoys they also fell well behind the game's best, ranking 12th across the competition.

New coach Garth Brennan has noticed, though he also liked what he saw as far as the creative potential shown by Ash Taylor and Kane Elgey last year.

The addition of former Roosters custodian Michael Gordon is telling given his reputation as a fine supporting fullback.

The 34-year-old's 2017 average of 21.4 supports/decoys sat him just outside the top 10 across the NRL, but still well ahead of Elgey, the Titans best in this category with 16.5 support plays a game.

If former Panthers X-factor forwards Bryce Cartwright and Leilani Latu can hit their straps Gordon should have enough opportunities to keep him busy and offer another dimension to the Titans attack.
