It took just one phone call from Coach Garth Brennan to former staffer, Trevor Gillmeister, to get him down to the TFH High Performance Centre to pass on some tips to his young troops.

Gillmeister was a former defensive coach at the club and was present at Titans training today, passing on tips to the squad ahead of the clash against the Cowboys.

Back rower Will Matthews was at the club when ‘the axe’ was a permanent fixture and was happy to see him again.

“It was good to see him, good to have him back around the group,” Matthews said.

“Fake high, go low, that was his motto. Under fatigue you seem to go back to your technique so if we can fix that up, it’ll make us better.”

Both prop forward Jack Stockwell and halfback Ash Taylor are still young and eager to learn so both were quick to jump in at the end of the session for a few extras.

“He’s a legend of the game both as a player and his coaching style,” Taylor said.

“Just at the end he grabbed a few boys and worked on some technique stuff,” Stockwell said. “I jumped in there because it’s always good to hear from someone as experienced as him.”
