BK back and Fifita has a derby in his sights

Good news, Titans fans, the big man is on track for the Macca's Local Derby.

Every Titans Member and fan will have circled the two Broncos clashes way back in November when the 2022 draw came out and that includes Titans backrower Dave Fifita.

The damaging forward has been on the sideline since sustaining a grade 2 MCL strain in Round 8 against the Panthers and as his recovery continues, Titans High Performance Manager Klinton Hoare has good news for the faithful Legion.

"David Fifita has increased his training load and his 'return to play' markers are being ticked off whilst rehabbing from his MCL grade 2 strain," Hoare said.

"David is on track to be back into team skills and low-grade contact at the back end of this week, with the  introduction to normalised acceleration and change of direction movements beginning earlier on.

"The objective of the medical team is to have David available for selection versus Broncos in Round 12."

It will come as welcome news for Coach Justin Holbrook who will be without one of his experienced edge forwards in Kevin Proctor for extended period following a surgical review.

"Kevin met with the Surgeon last Thursday and the recommended surgery to his right biceps tendon," Hoare said.

"It is the injury that he sustained in the match against the Roosters in Mackay and is not settling enough with time and his rehab exercises.

"As such the outcome will be an approximately four week return to play timeline post-surgery."

The news for injured centre pairing Brian Kelly and Pat Herbert is a little more positive, with Kelly available for selection this week and Herbert to join Fifita in being available for the Broncos in another week's time.

"Brian Kelly is back from the flu and available for selection with his previous left knee MCL grade 1 strain benefitting from the training de-load whilst flu ridden," Hoare said.

"Pat Herbet will be sidelined for an extra week with a grade 2 soleus (calf/achilles) strain, with a return to full training the aim for our lead in week to the Broncos round 12.
