Derby games come early, with rivals lined up for trials

It's just under six weeks until footy returns!

After a big pre-season, the Titans will return to the field for the first time for two trial matches against fellow Queensland opponents in February.

First up it is a clash against the Brisbane Broncos at Sunshine Coast Stadium on Sunday 12th February.

De Groot gets one of his own

In 2022, this warm-up clash proved a thriller with the sides playing out a 26-all draw.

The fixture is the first hit-out for the clubs, and traditionally also sees a number of the rookie players get a chance to impress.

Last season it was Jojo Fifita who put in a strong performance to showcase his ability, while Klese Haas, Jaylan De Groot and Ben Liyou were among a host of others who had strong performances.

With another season under their belt, expect the Future Titans System graduates to again look to impress, while the match also shapes as a first run for some new combinations.

The following week, we take on our newest rivals, the Dolphins at Kayo Stadium in Redcliffe.

This match on Sunday 19th February is where you can expect to see the majority of the Titans first-choice team run out in what shapes as the club's major trial.

With the first two games of the Telstra Premiership Season to be played in Sydney for the Titans, the trials are a chance to get a glimpse of the side in action before a return to the Gold Coast in round three to take on the Melbourne Storm.
